JAMES P. BOND

James Bond is a Senior Managing Director at Blue Monsoon Capital and a key member of Blue Monsoon’s senior executive team based in Washington, D.C. James is a leading global expert on financial restructuring, project finance, infrastructure-related strategy and public policy, and risk management, with a focus on emerging economies.

James has worked closely with ministers and senior government officials, with multilateral development banks, and with major corporates. James is currently working on the restructuring of a major government-owned financial institution in the Gulf. Prior assignments have included advice on public policy for governments in the areas of finance and infrastructure; support to major IFIs in restructuring and strategic realignment; and project finance and financial restructuring assignments for public and private corporates.

James’s other recent assignments include an advisory role in the initial launch of the Green Climate Fund. He is also the Non-Executive Chairman of the G7 Inclusive Growth Financing Forum and is a Visiting Professor at Sciences Po (Paris) where he lectures a master’s degree course on economics and finance.

Before his current roles, James served in numerous managerial positions in the World Bank Group over more than two decades, including most recently as the Chief Operating Officer of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA). Before joining the World Bank, James spent nine years with Total and two with Gold Fields.

James holds a doctorate in economics from Panthéon-Sorbonne; a master’s degree in energy economics from the French engineering school ENSPM; and a degree in chemical engineering from South Africa. He has been awarded the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur of France and Commandeur de l’Ordre du Mérite of Madagascar.
