Hildegard Gacek has more than 30 years of experience in the banking sector, including project and corporate finance, equity investment and corporate advisory services. She has extensive experience in development investment and finance across Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe, and the Middle East.

Between 2012 and 2017, Hildegard served as Managing Director, Southern and Eastern Mediterranean (SEMED) region at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Hildegard managed the EBRD’s banking operations in various regions, directing the activities of teams based both in the relevant countries and in London. In addition to her role as Managing Director at EBRD, Hildegard created the Diversity Steering Committee and developed the diversity strategy for the Bank. This set the bank’s policy of support for gender equality, religious and cultural diversity.

In addition to her current role at Blue Monsoon, Hildegard is an Independent Board Member at Banca Commerciala Romania, a subsidiary of ERSTE Bank Austria. She is Chair of the Risk Committee and Member of the Audit and the Nomination Committee.

A graduate of the Cologne Business School, Hildegard holds an MBA and a master’s in International Trade. In addition to German, she speaks fluent English and French.
